My name is Emily. I'm going to tell you a little about myself, about this blog, and what is behind the name Beautiful Treasures 24:3-4. First and foremost, I love Jesus! The Lord started drawing me in when I was 12, but I wasn't saved until I was 19 (maybe my salvation story is a post for another day). The truth of the matter is that I was a sinner and God sent his only son, Jesus who lived a perfect life, to die a criminal's death to save me and you from our sins. Then Jesus rose again to give a new life to all who believe in Him! We give our filthy sins to God and in return we receive His righteousness! How AMAZING is that!?! This is why I love Him. :)
More about me: I love my husband! David and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary! We were married January 7, 2012. :) We have been together a total of 5 years in March! Marriage is a wild, exciting, painful, sanctifying ride! I thank the Lord for my husband and the gift of marriage daily because it is teaching me many things about myself and what it means to be a follower of Christ. Marriage isn't always easy, but it is always good.
I also enjoy fashion, Pinterest, cooking/baking and reading. I love all things marriage, family, and homemaking. I like to be organized (I'm one of those crazy people that has our DVD's in alphabetical order and my closet organized by color and season! lol!)
This blog will be a place to express my thoughts about what God is teaching me in all areas of life, in hopes that He will use it to minister to other women. I will also post about fashion, recipe ideas, marriage, and homemaking. And the list probably won't stop there! Lol.
The name Beautiful Treasures 24:3-4 started when I was in college. In school I was a Child and Family development major. I took a Family Education class where I had to develop a curriculum to teach to families. I was blessed to have a professor who allowed me to create a Christian program even though I was in a public university. And so the idea of Beautiful Treasures Ministries was created. :-)
Beautiful Treasures Ministries comes from the Bible verse Proverbs 24:3-4 which says: "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filed with rare and beautiful treasures." I absolutely love this verse! I currently have it hanging on my refrigerator. I think it is very profound if we stop to think about it .... It shows how we need God's wisdom, understanding and knowledge to build our homes into places that will ultimately bring glory to Him. When we press into Jesus and are filled with His love for us, it results in us loving others and obeying His commands (John 13:34, John 14:15). When we obey His commands regarding marriage, family, raising children, and homemaking we will see the atmosphere in our homes changing. Our husbands, children, and homes will become our beautiful treasures. And when we as wives and mothers are relying on God and doing things His way we will become a beautiful treasure to our husbands and children. When families run the way God designed it ultimately glorifies Him because marriage is a picture of Jesus and His bride the church. And being apart of the Bride of Christ is of course the Ultimate treasure!
